Merchandising & Hospitality Management Awards $85,000 in Scholarships
The School of Merchandising & Hospitality Management awarded over $85,000 in scholarships to deserving students at the annual reception on October 29, 2009. Scholarship awards are based on student's academic achievements, career goals, and extracurricular involvement. Over 65 students received awards ranging from $250.00 to $2,750.00 for the 2009-2010 academic year. The impact of a scholarship can be life changing for many college students. According to freshman merchandising major, Alexis Linthicum, the reality of achieving a college degree is made possible by the help of donors and industry partners. "As an out-of-state student, any financial assistance is greatly appreciated." Once established in her career, Alexis hopes to one day "pay it forward by helping future students in the same way that she has benefited from their generosity." Scholarships applications for the 2010-2011 academic year are due February 1, 2010.
