Merchandising Students Participate in University Scholar's Day
Lacey Johnson and Megan Logan, merchandising seniors, participated in University Scholar's Day on April 3, 2008. The event, hosted by the Honor's College, provides the UNT community an opportunity to celebrate the work of student researchers and their faculty mentors. Johnson and Logan's research, Spirit Trends: Understanding Symbolic Interaction Theory, examined the movement of a fashion trend through high school spirit teams. The researchers collected data during designated spirit days and sporting events at area high schools throughout the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex. After transcribing and coding the data, they found that high school spirit teams desire to be a part of a group, yet maintain a unique individualized style. Johnson and Logan completed their research under the direction of Dr. Christy Crutsinger, Associate Dean and Professor, to fulfill requirements in the junior level Fashion Theory and Trend Analysis course.
