Merchandising Graduate Student Awarded Flemmie P. Kittrell National
Fellowship
Davette Angelo, graduate
student in merchandising, will represent the University of North Texas as a
recipient of an American Association of Family & Consumer Sciences Fellowship.
Davette received the Flemmie P. Kittrell National Fellowship for the 2008-09
academic year. Serving as Chair of the Home Economics department at Howard
University for over 27 years, Flemmie P. Kittrell led the way in the development
of international collaboration in family and consumer sciences throughout Africa
and India. Each year , the $3,500 fellowship is awarded to one minority student
pursuing a graduate degree in the area of family and consumer sciences. Davette
received her B.S. in Marketing from Bethune-Cookman College in Daytona Beach,
Florida. After completing her undergraduate degree, Davette worked as a
Merchandise Manager for JC Penney Company and recently relocated to Denton to
complete her master’s degree.
