SMHM - International
The School of Merchandising & Hospitality Management is pleased to launch a new student organization, SMHM-International. The goal of this organization is to create a welcoming and supportive environment for ALL SMHM majors by promoting a culture of global awareness, cross-cultural understanding, academic success, and life-long friendship. Most international students are far away from their homes facing unexpected difficulties including language barriers and often times, culture shock. SMHM-International is designed to help students during this transition period and further enhance their professional development. Likewise, there are numerous American students who are eager to learn from and support international students, creating a win-win situation for everyone. According to Sarah Kim, SMHM-International Advisor, "We have numerous activities planned that will help students achieve their goals and enable them be successful students and global citizens. Students can expect to participate in cross-culture partnerships, mentoring programs, country presentations, guest speaker presentations and more." Kim further adds, "I am honored to serve our students in this capacity and I invite everyone to join our group."
