Welcome to the School of Merchandising and Hospitality Management (SMHM)! Unique in the country, our innovative programs and exemplary scholarship converge on creating and managing product, service, and technology experiences in global hospitality, fashion, and home furnishings merchandising industries. Among its core values, SMHM embraces students and learning, opportunity and inclusiveness, scholarship and research, community and connectivity, partnership and outreach, and integrity and stewardship.
With almost 1,300 majors, SMHM continues its phenomenal nine-year growth trend. Our students come from throughout Texas, the nation, and the world. Furthermore, we attract many working professionals who seek the enhanced knowledge and skills sets offered through three 100% on-line graduate certificates (merchandising, events management, and hospitality management).
Our award-wining faculty integrates theory into practice through experiential learning. A highly involved advising staff keeps students on track and on-time to graduation. The School supports international education through its Asia Hong Kong Study Abroad and E-Passport Programs, study-abroad exchanges, participation in international competitions and conferences, the International Visiting Research Scholar Program, and research partnerships with numerous foreign universities. We partner with industry through two active advisory boards: Merchandising Board of Governors and Hospitality Management Board of Governors as well as by Executive-in-Residence Lectures, Career EXPOS, the annual Creating Consumer Experiences Symposium, and internship programs.
Information on all these aspects of our school can be found on this web site. Enjoy your visit to our virtual home.
