Awards on April 18 at the University of North Texas Alumni Dinner. This prestigious award is given to individuals whose assistance to UNT has enabled the university to provide a margin of excellence in its endeavors. Ms. Duesman is currently the Senior Manager in Industry Relations for PepsiCo Foodservice, a division of PepsiCo, Inc, which includes the Pepsi Cola, FritoLay, Quaker Oats, Tropicana, and Gatorade brands.
As Chair of the Hospitality Management Board at UNT,Ms. Deusman has made significant strides in providing advisory and financial support of the Hospitality Management program. Specifically, under her direction, the board assisted the faculty in updating the graduate curriculum in Fall 2006, and she coordinated the fundraising Posh Picnic galas in 2006 and 2007. Because of her enthusiastic leadership, the BOG was able to raise over $30,000 to help fund the 21st Century Hospitality Fund and add money to several endowed scholarship funds.
Through her position at Pepsico, Joyce has been instrumental in securing funds for students to attend the National Restaurant Association Trade Show in Chicago. Over the past two years, Pepsico has sponsored 24 students to the industry's most attended global, foodservice event. Because of Joyce's generosity, students received complimentary rooms at the luxurious Chicago Lakeshore W Hotel and free admittance to prestigious industry gatherings such as the Foodservice Publication's Strawberries and Champagne Reception, the Multicultural Foodservice Hospitality Alliance Reception, and the NPD Foodservice Marketing Group Reception.
