According to the University of North Texas guidelines for a minor as printed in the current undergraduate catalog, a student is required to do a minimum of 18 credit hours in a given subject, including 6 hours of advanced work. It is recommended that a student interested in earning a minor in Merchandising with a Fashion Merchandise Development Emphasis take the following classes:
- SMHM 1650: Apparel Evaluation (3 hours)
- SMHM 2490: Introduction to Apparel Merchandising (3 hours)
- SMHM 2650: Textiles (3 hours)
- SMHM 3650: Textiles Evaluation (3 hours)*
- SMHM 4850: Brand Development (3 hours)*
plus one of the following classes:
- SMHM 3750: Consumer Studies in Apparel and Home Furnishings (3 hours)
- SMHM 4000: Merchandising Study Tour (3 hours)*
- SMHM 4010: Textile and Apparel Industries (3 hours)*
- SMHM 4080: Merchandising Ventures (3 hours)*
- SMHM 4090: Virtual Merchandising (3 hours)*
