Both students are completing internships outside the DFW metroplex during the Spring 2008 semester. Erica Wendell is pursuing a culinary internship with a world famous chef in Palermo Italy while Brook Engel is interning at the Vail Cascade Resort in Vail, Colorado.

 

The hospitality management program in the School of Merchandising and Hospitality Management at the University of North Texas is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Programs in Hospitality Administration. The program offers:

 

  • an innovative four-year curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree;
  • a strong emphasis in all aspects of business and hospitality management;
  • hospitality and management teaching laboratories; and
  • career and internship opportunities in the dynamic Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex and beyond.

 

The mission of the Hospitality Management program is to educate students for management and leadership in the hospitality industry and to contribute to the profession through teaching excellence, research, consultation and service activities.

 

Professionals in the hospitality business can choose from a variety of stimulating career settings almost anywhere in the world. Graduates of the program are prepared for promising careers in restaurant management, marketing and sales catering, hospitality accounting, hospitality human resources, country club management, resort management, and hospitality web development to name a few.

UNT's hospitality management program features a unique laboratory environment. The Club at Gateway Center is a modern,
well-equipped restaurant that provides a comprehensive teaching laboratory facility.
