Admissions for MBA/MS
Admission for the MBA/MS in Merchandising or the MBA/MS in Hospitality Management involves the following procedures:
- The student will fill out a graduate application form. The student must indicate MBA/MS in Merchandising or MBA/MS in Hospitality Management as an intended major and submit to the graduate school.
- Graduate Admissions will send one copy of the submitted materials to the College of Business Administration (COBA) and another copy to the School of Merchandising and Hospitality Management (SMHM).
- In COBA, the MBA advisor will check the student’s admission requirements, MBA background requirements, and help the student determine the specialized area (e.g., Accounting, Administrative Management, Finance, Human Resource Management, Insurance, Marketing, or Production and Operation Management).
- In SMHM, the graduate advisor will check the student’s admission requirements and advise about any deficiency work necessary.
Students must meet the requirements for admission to the Toulouse School of Graduate Studies. Included in these requirements are:
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited university;
- An overall GPA of at least a 3.0 for the last 60 semester hours of course work or a 2.8 GPA on all undergraduate coursework;
- Acceptable scores on the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or the GMAT;
- GRE or GMAT score must be less than 10 years old; Demonstrated proficiency in oral and written English.
In addition, to be considered for admission into the merchandising or hospitality management programs, students need to submit to the SMHM Graduate Coordinator:
- Three letters of recommendation from employers or teachers;
- Resume;
- Professional essay that addresses the students’ motivation and perseverance toward educational goals; academic or professional honors, recognitions and awards; and a demonstrated commitment to the field of study.
Students must adhere to the specific requirements for the College of Business Administration for the MBA program.
